I am an A-Level student currently studying at Karachi Grammar School.
I am an expressive individual who enjoys art and creative expression; love for art has been deep rooted within
my family for generations. I have experienced art not only as a creative medium but as a means of connecting
with family. My Dada (grandfather) passed away before I was born, but my Dad’s vivid descriptions of him and
his artworks featured on our family lounge wall remind me of him. I often find myself thinking about him while
I paint; as I add details to the eyes to soften the expressions in a father and son’s portrait, I feel myself
connected with him.
I had the opportunity to intern in the creative department at Adcom Leo Burnett, a full service advertising
agency specialising in PR, Media, Communications and Marketing Services. I got to opportunity to work as part
of the team who developed “Always Azaad (free)” Independence Day campaign for P&G’s feminine hygiene brand
Always. This campaign aimed at promoting engagement for free pad donations to school girls so that they do not
miss school during periods. I’m keenly interested in learning how advertising and communication impact human
behavior. When I return to Pakistan after graduation, I aim to become a social entrepreneur; I would like to
mobilize brand voice to promote societal change, particularly in the area of child literacy and education for
the underprivileged, by collaborating with NGOs and developing communication campaigns to drive positive
change.
